Enhancing the District’s Vegetation Management Practices and Exploring Strategies to Reduce Herbicide Use – Francois Laroche, Vegetation Management Section Administrator

The District is seeking public and stakeholder input on the District’s vegetation management practices, including the use of herbicides on aquatic vegetation, as part of the agency’s effort to engage the public on topics of public interest. District staff will provide a presentation on the impacts of invasive vegetation to the agency’s mission as well as the native ecosystems in South Florida. Staff will also present strategies and approaches to enhancing the District’s vegetation management program. The vegetation management program seeks to achieve “maintenance control” of invasive vegetation, explore different approaches to exotics control, and further reduce overall herbicide dependency in response to public concerns. Input from the public, stakeholders, and WRAC Public Forum participants is encouraged.
